So the MC was transported into a book about a guy who transmigrated from the real world. Does that mean that Choi is actually from the real real world or the book’s “real world” which is really not the real world that the Mc is from?

i too wondered this for a long time.
for now you're not supposed to understand. it comes up way later in the novel. the details of kim rok soo's backstory are also explained way later. even in the novel, it just sorta drops you in w/o much background and it's all slowly revealed as it becomes relevant to the progression of the story. for now just go with it.

Expanding on this it's actually pretty amazing how well thought out everything is. Things that happen in the first couple chapters that seem mundane suddenly end up being relevant 300 chapters later. The author's really good at throwing in these great plot twists that don't feel like they were just dropped in because things were getting boring and predictable since the twists get foreshadowed so early.
So if you ever come across a piece of the story that feels a little weird keep it in mind because it might suddenly be relevant much, much later.

Such as the tree that was... SUPPOSED to turn white ༎‿༎ But yeah, this author is crazy good at introducing the smallest of details and then making them relevant in a way you wouldn't have even thought of until it the moment it actually gets revealed, and everything clicks togethet. Author-nim blows my mind constantly haha
I really hate the prince. The girl clearly didn’t know she was a witch! It could have been some ancestry she had or a curse from the empress could have been placed on her to make the trees protect her.
I’m never letting this go you bastard prince. He’d better come to this horrible realization that he killed an innocent person for no good reason
Tell me about it. Even though that tree like monster said it'll protect her, she still extended her hand for the prince and he just outright slashed her
I wish thats not the case that the prince might realize that he just killed a innocent woman...
But I think that the story tells that the ex- now dead fiancé of the prince was switch place by the witch and the father of the dead fiance knows that it is not her daughter and was not sure if her daughter is alive or is the witch...
Either way... There must be some sort of a reson on why it happen
I’ll be satisfied if they at least bring this up again instead of sweep it under the rug like so many stories do because of “girls other than the female lead don’t matter” syndrome.
True ( ̄Д ̄)
Right!? Until the end, there wasn't a single indication of her witch-blood. If I was in a life-or-death situation like that, I would hope that my latent powers will exhibit themselves -even if I never had conscious recognition of my ancestry. None of that happened for the fiance, other than the ambiguous tree protection. RIP
