Carson guy didn’t seem so bad. Kind of a little too enthusiastic and energetic. I think it’ll be easy to deal with him, and his energy easily gets rid of the awkwardness of the atmosphere for them as strangers who will work together. The ‘asking for picture while eating’ issue, MC could’ve just said ‘maybe after this delicious noodles’. And I didn’t like how the MC looked down on the noodles coz they’re cheap, I mean Carson liked it that’s why he gave it to his guests. I guess because of their cultural customs and the MC’s preferences that Carson feels annoying to them
The art is exquisite damn. BUT their facial expressions are kinda hard to recognize/understand… I dunno maybe it’s a “me” problem, prosopagnosia and all that….

Very polished yet hardly expressive. It’s a huge letdown but perhaps it’ll improve, as most art styles tend to as the chapters progress
Isn’t that just how the intent of the story is/characters in particular? Cause this has the same artist as Max Mojave and the expressions were perfectly fine there. It had a darker and angsty plot there too.
I have no idea of the artist’s intent, but for now I feel a huge disconnect when reading the manga as opposed to the novel. Perhaps you have a point in that Jaekyoung is definitely written as more aloof and Jiheon tries not to take things too seriously so his expressions may be drawn more plainly. But everyone looks a bit too placid in this. So while the art is clearly stunning and everyone’s beautiful, they look soulless.
I meant the intent of the author not the artist. As you have described the two main characters, they both sound like they aren’t the type to be super expressive or emotional (at least for now), so it would make a ton of sense if the artist draws them to have neutral faces when the characters feel that way. I haven’t read the novel yet and only the manhwa, and from what I see, there’s hardly anything to make me think anyone has reason to be so expressive when all they’re doing is making casual conversation after meeting for the first time in years
Anyways if you really want to know how the art is, you should go check out Max Mojave, which is the artist’s previous work. The plot is centered around a murderer mc, so the emotions are for sure there and shown.
I think you’re missing my point. Regardless of their characterization, that shouldn’t mean everyone should come across as completely lifeless (this is the key word here). I’m sure you read a lot of manga, with all kinds of different characters and the art still makes them realistic and relatable because they don’t look like glass dolls.
If I were to use an example of an art style that had an aloof character who was still intriguing regardless of his barely-there expressions, is Isaac from Dear Benjamin (before the artist was replaced).
i should also make it clear that this is not me trying to convince you to see the art a certain way, I’m only explaining my view of it.
I mean technically he loved the devil unconditionally, asking nothing in return (not even to love him back) isn’t that deserving of Heaven? Poor guy. Simping for the devil isn’t worth it.
His faith for the devil who doesn't even love him back is considered betrayal to God. It's like knowing a competent spy is loyal to another boss you are rivaled with, would you let them in to your place knowing that he could backstab or share your secret to someone else?
