I kinda like it, the backstory helps divert the main plot without being insignificant and provides a more complex conflict for the story. At least it’s not non-stop sex with absolutely no value to the plot and repetitive misunderstanding which can be solved with communication.
Although I still read those kinds of plots ;P
I think they are better off as 3P. Peach guy acts like a buffer coz the two I think could be too volatile without peach.
