i....i feel kinda bad for his eldest sister? at that point she was already pretty old, so the way her parents had treated her has already affected her. she's developed her own defense mechanisms and ways to function in that kind of family, which is basically rejecting and being mean to everyone else, before they reject her. growing up neglected can be really damaging.
whereas yuri was still be able to fit in with the "new family" because he was young, and hasn't fully developed his personality + other things. he could fit in as heejoo's little brother. but it probably felt to his eldest sister that she is being replaced, and everyone likes heejoo more.
i definitely think the eldest sister acts like a bitch, but i also feel bad for her, bc im also an older sister. she's learned to be a bitch to protect herself and i imagine its hard to break that habit
