I'm kind of really sensitive about people saying this I am your ally kind of thing. I mean it's clear this whole blackmailing thing is one of the main topics of this manga and also this way of manipulating is a pretty common and effective method in bullying, but as weird, as this comparison may be, it always reminds of these persuasions into societies, organizations or what not(can't find the expression). Like islamism as an example. People don't feel accepted in society etc. pp. and then they're approached in this we-support-you,-you are-wanted-and-safe,-we-are-your-allies attitude. And suddenly for the little feeling of being a secure, you'd start acting on disproportionate orders in return.
Okay I'm officially too damn serious for this....
Inui already had control over Tobari and is blackmailing him with the picture he'd taken. He already said that he felt guilty, but didn't act like it, right? Wrong.
You see, he's interested in Tobari for some reason. (I get it's a gay manga and they'll date eventually) but a guy cross-dressing isn't something most people would accept or encourage. Inui, however, seems to genuinely not mind it and is actually enjoying it. He's encouraging Tobari in his own way by using two things: Blackmail and emotional manipulation. The way I see it he uses blackmail to control Tobari's actions, but he feels guilty about it. He isn't really a bad guy so he used the 'I'm an ally' attitude to make him feel safe and enjoy what he's doing albeit being forced to. He felt like a bully, but a part of his did feel wrong and guilty. Maybe he actually means it (that he's an ally) it's a possibility.
Think about it. Inui could treat Tobari like shit and Tobari would still listen, so why did he bother with the I'm your ally attitude? Inui is not perfect, his ex said that he was rotten, but he isn't completely rotten.
yeah I agree with you. I felt really scared because of Inui, if someone did that to me and manipulated me into doing things I don't know if I could keep living....
For some reason the puppet really reminded me of the doll in Tousei Gensou Hakubutsushi .... ( http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/tousei_gensou_hakubutsushi/ )

what I never really understood:
what about jian yi's disappearance? when exactly was that? like before all these incidents or in the future? The guys all look so mature already, like at least 2nd or 3rd years in high school but in one scene jian yi mentions them to go the same high school (and uni) in the future. so are they middle schoolers?! Also if I remember correctly, his disappearance takes plac throuot high school. Or did i completely misunderstand it all? I hope we also get to know about what actually happened in that time. I'm just really confused about it bc it seems like it was mentioned only one single time. Though it's clearly portrayed that he's got a twisted background.....
Yes the first few 50 or so chapters are the future chapters where jian yi has returned with zhan xixi and told him he was kidnapped on the 2nd day of highschool. The chapters that follow are flashbacks of their middle school life and memories. The last chapter 169 is also a flashback but we're not yet to meet the part of the kidnapping (also a flashback). And then after we're finished with the flashbacks old xian might take us back to the future where jian yi is writing his highschool exams cause he was away and zhan xixi is a college student.
Ah, I see, thank you!
xD abahahaa, relax. sensei will give us the answers to all why questions of this manga.
