He did not have another choice did you not read the story thus far properly? Lovelace had already taken on his debts prior to his “consent”, Lovelace essentially financially owned the MC and backed him into a corner. There was no saying “no”. Nothing about this relationship is of equal footing. This is true coercion. And this plot is in fact a red flag teetering on black. Just because
Lovelace is the uke doesn’t negate that this the exact dynamic of most poor uke x abusive rich seme that’s beloved within the genre. I mean this plot is on par with a Jinx for example.

I wouldn’t excuse Dylan’s threat of rape and I don’t say this lightly but I genuinely think he was truly threatening Lovelace and didn’t intend to go through with the act. I think given his propensity to violence this was the only trump card he thought had in reclaiming a position of power.
