Julian's portrait? In some chapter (don't remember which), Kay rubs his finger on the portrait. And at the end when he takes the key out you see the pendant on the floor and the portrait is blurred from his finger rubbing on it. Those two scenes were quite fast.
I think he kept the pendant only because of the key.
