I think creed pretty much understood what was going on in the situation considering how both cheng and ed looked beaten up, and when ed told him he was bought after cheng tried to taunt creed. they prolly got into fight later on which the writer didn't give any scenes on as both creed and cheng had bruised up faces. so i think it's a known matter which wasn't brought up in words
