A lot of her readers are minors? I remember she used to strongly suggests that minors are not allowed to read the comic and to follow her. The real Cosette died as a baby.
How she died was also partly the Duke being a shitty person.

Keira's mother and her family would harass Cosette's mother whom they saw as a threat. I think its hinted the Duke had feelings for Cosette's mother UNLIKE Keira's.
This is why he seems to treat "Cosette" better and warmly in the first life than he did Keira.

The other wife knew Keira's mother family wanted to harm her and would plead with the Duke for protection. He never intervened or made any effort to take the threat seriously for political reasons.

She becomes pregnant and this when tragedy hits.

Eventually Keira's grandfather hires assassins to target her and Cosette's mother sensing her baby is dying makes a contract with a demon in desperation and despair to save her baby's life in exchange for hers.
Cosette's mother dies and so does real cosette. But the demon enters the dead baby's body and lives in it. This is who the current "Cosette" is.

I forgot to mention that not only did Keira's mother's family drive Rowena and baby Cosette to their death they ruined and murdered all her family.

Prior to the final attempt on her life that killed baby Cosette, Keira's grandfather schemed to frame and ruin the 1st wife's family. This led to them all being murdered or executed except Rowena's brother - the count that introduces "Cosette" at the banquet.

So not only did the 1st wife have no protection from her husband due to his "neutrality" but entire bloodline had been wiped out by Keira's mom's family since they wanted to male sure she had no protectors or allies left when they targeted her after driving her out her home with the Duke. They were the ones spread those rumors about her being "infertile" because they wanted Keira's mom to be the sole duchess and mother to Parvis children.

No wonder she turned to a demon, after the final attempt on her life while she was pregnant the baby died. In desperation and anger she made a contract with a demon in exchange for her life to save her baby's.
The baby died and the demon enters her daughter's body and has living in it ever since.

This is the "Cosette" we see the demon that possesses her dead sister's body.
