I don't believe doting father/brothers trope is wierd.. this story feels wierd bc the Duke brought in and adopted a girl child just bc she looked like his wife which seems like projection.. on the other hand, the brother cares more about his sister than his own wife to the point he'd let his sis become a problem in his marriage.. most other stories you find that the father dotes on their child bc they are the only piece they have left of their loved one especially since all these mom's would die in child labor or soon after giving birth so its understandable to love the child two-fold bc your loved one loved the child enough to risk losing their life and looked forward to this tiny life.. there are even stories where the brother is married but both the brother and sister-in-law dote on the sister. this story however takes it a step forward and all dynamic is shifted towards incestuous ideations.. since everyone puts the sister before their life-partner and spoils her you should be spoiling your partner.. foe e.g. take the wedding shopping incedent in this story ideally the brother should have doted on the FL but he was too invested in his own sister, that crosses the line..
