Well, if we go back a couple of chapters, do you remember when He Tian kissed redhead, thar's probably a good indication that He Tian likes redhead, now Jian yi called He Tian after the situation of the redhead accepting She li's request, but like you said he got tricked. When He tian heard of the news he instantly was ready to fight She li because he knows that what She li is doing to the redhead is wrong. Why is he doing it you say? Probably because he likes him, or better yet this is way to apologize for forcefully kissing him and making him his in house cook. Though, this is my take on the whole situation.
