I cant take sides in this story , they both went through horrible circumstances and they were shaped by it .
This really isnt one of these stories where the female is just a victim and everyone is bad , the male lead is also a victim in this , you cant expect him to act like a normal man and deal with his feelings normally , what both of them need is just time to heal and to accept the ugly reality .
So to all the feminists readers who are trashing the ML just because he is a man , GROW UP or dont read complex reality based stories because I assure you both of these characters exist in real life .

This is so bad and cringe , their relationship is just based on him being rich
I want after the 2 years for her to leave him , and he agonising over the fact that he fell in love
Guys stay away from each other it doesnt end well for both of you , their survival instincts are gone I swear
I read 3 chapters of this and it didnt really attract me at all
There is alot of things I dont understand here they keep taking us from past to present to past
She needed to confront and trash that lowely father of her who even after all this choose his wife over her .
She also needed to confront her brother , he fucking knew her mother and her were innocent of his sickness and HE IGNORED IT ???? She should have been mad at him more to satisfy me at least .
Also she just escaped a house and got herself imprisoned in another , I wanted her to find her mother and run with her somewhere and maybe we get a time gap and only then to resume the romance (she went through so much crap that just got thrown under the rug to make way for the romance) .
Also it is sooo annoying how she spent her whole life studying , getting the best grade , graduating with honor and she STILL THINKS SHE NEEDS TO PROVE HER WORTH ??? Like girl your brother maybe doesnt deserve that title because he benefited from it at your expense , BUT YOU WORKED SOO HARD FOR THAT DAMN NAME YOU SHOULD USE IT TO HELP YOU GET MARRIED AT LEAST EVEN IF YOU HATE IT .
Honestly I am with the duke that she shouldnt do anything , BECAUSE SHE HAS DONE ENOUGH SINCE SHE WAS YOUNG AAHAHAHAHA it is so annoying .
Also that Ian guy , no shame ? No dignity ? The guy has been rejected 3 times at least , rejected marriage proposals ..... THAT SHOULD BE A HINT RIGHT ????
This story could have been better , I know it is not done yet , but what is next is kind of predictable and bland , I needed her to go back to the slums and maybe work and help improve the conditions of these people and face her trauma , that would have been a great arch instead of the noble title fight that we came after .
Sorry that was along rant .....
This story is so inspired by real life , the political struggle , the diffrences in social class , the completely ignorant rich female character , and the completely impoverished male character going through exploitation and brutalised since he was young .
All of it are really good representations.
But of cource there is the ignorant readers who cant get past the idea that their female character is hurt and maturing , because of cource she has to stay a beautiful idiot pampered by the male character.
Honestly if you cant see the real life resemblance in this story you shouldn't read it you are wasting it
I really agree with this. As much as heiner is an asshole of a husband, the story depicts how ignorant the nobles lived. It was shitty of everyone to blame her dad's wrongdoings on Annette, but Annette was a naive and ignorant little girl that was raised in flowery gardens while ppl working under her father who were the same age as her lost their lives and sanity. I honestly do get why people hated her even tho she definitely did not deserve it
