Its nice that the author has this plot for a side story. LI Huan and Yan Yang are dealing with, I think, a common thing in a long term relationship. I always believe that love is an emotion or a feeling that eventually goes away when two people don't work on their relationship. The spark, fireworks, and whatnot may or may not be always present, its just that people must work on their relationship of they want to stay forever.
What really matters, in my opinion, is the couple's commitment and resolve to stay together.
