I've noticed in a lot of both straight and gay manga/hwa lately that the top is younger/known when they were a kid (but there's a time skip)/is a virgin
I think I have thoughts but I don't know what they are lmao

I have thought about it too, maybe it's also because if the bottom is at the younger age in the huge age gap, people will be weirded out. I don't even know anymore, I have read some of those stories where the bottom is the younger one, and when I go to the comments people would be saying that the "top" manipulated or raped the younger bottom(disclaimer this just for the huge age gap stories) but when it comes for the top being the younger one, I guess it's ok since he's doing all the stick in stick out. This is just a matter of mentality, I don't even know what im trying to explain (●●)/

pretty much it. imo since bl tropes usually follow a concept wherein the top is typically the more assertive type, and the bottom is usually the passive type, it will be seen as grooming and rape if the top is older. but if the more assertive one is younger, then we can arguably say that he made the choice of being with the bottom. of course theres more routes in which the age gap trope follow other than this, but older top is generally frowned upon unless the the plot is exceptionally well made and/or the older top is actually the passive type.

I think both are fine in certain circumstances. I think it’s pretty easy to tell which stories are fetishizing it and which are interesting and use it for the sake of plot. This story is a good one, for example. I didn’t feel it was gross or was sexualizing the age gap. It was part of the plot and Ilya often mentioned how much he acted like a child and deserved to be treated like one.
I do agree people have double standards, though. But I guess because it’s easier to spot the sexualization of a child when it’s the bottom? Idk, but both are so uncomfortable ToT

this. i also think it's because a lot of the readers are women and a lot of the times they project womanhood unto the bottom. also the reason why it's so easy for them to "support" any second male lead (even if they're horrible lol) and say uke should just leave if they're stuck in an unrequited love for the male lead (seme) but praise/ignore when it's the seme having unrequited love for the mc...

That was what im trying to say TvT, when it's the top who's older it'll be seen as grooming or rape, when it's the younger one very little seems to mind. I remember reading this one manga where the top is the older one and the bottom is around something 14 or 15 (which is very young) I was taken aback at first because the bottom was very young, the top was in his 20s. Many were okay with the top since he let's the bottom do what it wants, but there still a majority of people thinking that the top manipulated the bottom into indulging with him or something like that, but then i stumbled upon like the same storyline with like the roles reversed. People only find it cute, well for me I really don't have a problem with stories like those unless the top really r*pes the bottom. Just like this one, this one is probably the most sane huge age gap story I read so far, And thank you for making time writing your reply to explain ( ̄▽ ̄)

The confession doesn't feel genuine to me because he only "realized" hes in love because he realized mc was out of his control from the get go. Like he's shown to need to be in control of things so like I don't think it's farfetched for ml to say he loves mc if that's the path to be in control (and this can totally be consciously or subconsciously). It's not abnormal imo for someone of that nature to think they love someone when they're really wanting control (though it might not be on purpose). So like this could be genuine even to the ml, but I would've liked the mc to be a bit more cautious against his manipulative behavior
I think thats why folks are saying the ml needs to suffer more (lol) so it feels like the ml has multiple opportunities to confirm his feelings to mc and its not in a moment of a desperate plea.

Ok so I love the plot theoretically lmao
It feels like it's missing chapters, it's so confusing.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I'm getting there are 3 blonde prince-like dudes rn and then a 4th that's dead: the prince that killed theo's older brother, Theo, and then the kid from the street who's been posing as Theo this whole time (?). Which doesn't make sense? Bc the murdery prince was like find someone who looks like me. I'm confused lmao

There’s only two isn’t there??? The prince, his doppelgänger raised to be his shield and his older brother. The prince and doppelgänger were separated as kids and maybe swapped lives??? That’s the only confusing part for me, is Theodore really the prince or the doppelgänger. Like did the doppelgänger agree to take the prince’s place again and let him go free OR were they in their correct positions the entire time and the prince was going crazy from guilt.

My guess is that grace is also a transmigrator and brainwashed the original MLs somehow so that she's has the place of the main character. And that's why we'll have those blips of confusion or jealousy from the dudes
But what I wanna know is if there's a different translation for "night beast" like is that supposed to be a name or is it really just more of an epithet for ML since we don't have a name. It just feels awkward.
SO SILLY I LOVE IT
