Genuinely I love all the character design in this manga. They're so fun yk, their shapes are fuckin interesting, even the extras and shit are unique to look at.
But one thing I'm nitpicking is the fact there's no dark skinned person yet that I've seen in this manga except for like idk? The shopkeeper? Yor's boss. HE'S COOL AF OFC tho, still.
Ik they're in a place inspired of England in like the 1940s-50's or sm but I just wish Tatsuya would be more inclusive for more dark skinned characters to be added. Considering he's really dope at character creation.

I'm feeling it's more south. I've been to Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden. Berlin was a city divided at this time so we would see a big wall and discussions about the family on the other side. Leipzig and Dresden, however, were close enough to the borders of other countries that espionage was rampant.
Dresden has the feel of where this is. Leipzig, though, has a specialty museum (der Ruden Ecker, I think) that goes into detail with Soviet cold war spies in the original headquarters.
But I agree with your point to the original comment; the likelihood of a person of color being there at this time is very low and they wouldn't make a good spy because they stand out too much. This also isn't the comic the author wanted to write. But we're hooked now so he can go deeper and get that edgier, film noir jazz he really wants. This chapter arc is a release of some of that. If he gets to write more of what he wants, he might be open to writing in more interesting characters. Who knows.
My hope is that the story doesn't drag or crash. Something this popular can easily do the former and the author's desire can do the latter.
Honestly, I'm sorry I'm straight out uneducated about war history. I just thought it was in England due to a special chapter and I mean it's easy to guess the anime is taking place in Europe. But hey, the more ik.
Being a spy can be out of the picture, I'm just talking about the existence of more colored characters in general. Like let's say a random passerbys or a goon cuz I just enjoy how they draw characters pretty uniquely and I wanna see them do more people of color.
But I guess uh the chances of that is also low huh.
It might be inspired a lot through real life but there's still many fictional, actually A LOT of fictional aspects to Spy x Family. Having like yk colored characters get sprinkled in will not make the story head to a different direction.

I love that Mc will always be haunted by the fact that she's not Penelope. It's always something that I wanted to happen whenever I read these reincarnation stories. Bc there's no fucking way that you live as a completely different person and you just casually go on with life or no one notices it.
In a world where she's forced to act like somebody else, where she's always fearing for her life. The last semblance of her true self, is her archeologist moments and I love that detail. Also the fact that it's the reason why she's more open to Callisto. Bc my man just accepts her. Not only her moments acting as Penelope but every part of her.
The bittersweet feeling of seeing the people around Penelope change for the better and treat her with respect. When they don't even know that the person inside of her is completely different. I love that shi. I love this manwha, absolute cinema.
Its one of the reasons why I love Penelope and Eris so much. They always mention the one who *actually* suffered and deserved better than the family and entourage they got. I hate it when mcs forget who had to live all that
