if you are in rino's shoes, you would probably do the same bcs rino have been thru a lot of situations. he was captured when he was little to be just a pet/companion for a boy. he got escaped but got turned into a human and didn't know what to do bcs he doesn't know anyone on the land. the swim instructor happen but didn't do anything aside from telling him that he can turn into a human. he basically had to sell his body just to have roof under him, a food to feed him, a clothes to warm him bcs he have a human body. anything for money. and then he saw that boy when he was captured. he used him. jiseung got to taste what rino experienced. no money, no home. as for rino's attitude towards other ppl is bcs he got to know other ppls attitudes as well. he's so used to ppl being an asshole to him and he adapted it to himself. he didn't get to know what sympathy/empathy means bcs no one showed it to him.

Mokhwa was kind enough to Rino, Chan-Kyung wasn't also someone who was mean or shitty to him, but he still acted like a total brat with them. Dolphins are known to be highly social animals, so his shitty behavior kind of does not excuse his actions even still. All the other dolphins had their fair share of development literally except Jisueng and Rino. They were assholes until the end.
