Well worms from the outside invade the base, so basically it said that the worms are possibly targeting the dispersers ╮(￣▽￣)╭ and its not a good thing since they may enter the base and infect everyone.
The worms aren't able to infect but they can cause damage and kill I'm sure, also the disperser help protect the base by omitting signals/waves that create a barrier repelling them from coming and making it so that they're unable to sense the people there, which protects the people inside the base from bugs/mutants who can come in but we find out that the dispersers actually attract the worms

I appreciate the writing, it's very compelling, which is why I'm still reading. But you can acknowledge that something is well written or realistic (etc) and still be upset by it. The two things aren't paradoxical and don't have to be one or the other.
I've read this well written novel, but absolutely hated one of the characters. They were a very well written character, but I didn't like what kind of person they were, what they did, or what they stood for. It was still a good novel. And I still dislike that character. /shrugs
yeah i agree tbh. people are just not ready to look at things from every perspective. im not saying this as in you can't be upset with the characters but yk how some people never try to look things in a deeper manner? and just runs with their own judgement.
