Truly baffled by the popularity. I get the fact that people like it when bad people get what they deserve but the bad people in this are so one dimensional, like they don’t seem like real people because they are so unreal. And the thing is, situations like this exist everywhere, there are gross predators abound, horrific bullies etc and this depiction doesn’t seem to touch on the human cost.
It feels so unreal when abuse/rape are anything but, it’s drawn to shock you rather than really say anything about it meaningfully. I don’t know, it doesn’t sit right with me that child abuse etc is being so seemingly gleefully depicted. There’s a way to do it without it seeming gross.m

I’d forgotten why this is one of my favorite BLs ever. The first 10 chaps had me seriously reconsidering my past self but wow, everything after 15 is so fucking incredible. I truly believe this is the most complete and well rounded BL ever. The details in the story are what sets it apart.
I wonder if the writer was ever an archer because Dayeol’s struggle felt so real. Taehyun is so sensitively written, he felt so believable. All his actions made sense, his struggles with juggling his emotions. The panels where Taehyun is describing the things that’s made him fall in love with Dayeol just kill me. The detail of him acting tough with his male friends, being more comfortable with his female friends. When Dayeol just went it was a given he would be the bottom. I don’t know why that in particular made me so happy, like that’s what he wanted to be and he accepted it like there’s nothing to be ashamed of( so many BL fall into this quagmire of associating weakness with bottoming).
This really did feel like of a coming of age story just like the author states, it’s so much better for it. You can just tell the author understands people and how to write characters. This felt like a revelation when I first read it and feels like one now and this is my 4th time rereading this. That says so much about the effectiveness of this story. I truly think this is the best BL story I’ve ever read….

I love this!! It’s rare that a BL makes me feel so many emotions. I was so angry at points, sad, happy, kicking my feet, infuriated and anxious. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a BL where the lead has his arm on the partner’s shoulder, that is sooooo so perfectly sweet. The umbrella scene where he bumps his shoulder, actual tears.
Also, I’m obsessed with the scene with Eunjung’s brother. The reversal of roles, Jiho realizing how small he felt being used and baited, the shame he feels. Just amazingly done. Jiho is extremely well written. I love how the power imbalances are corrected here.

You know, I have a lot of problems with this story but it does exactly what it set out to do merging over the top shouneness and dramatic played out Fanfic tropes.
The romance is weak and you can reliably expect Limon to pull something out so there are no stakes, the MC has no agency because everything is already in the hands of the Prince. The most interesting character (the demon lord) will not get fleshed out and I expect this story to never surprise me or do anything interesting with its characters. But at the end of the day, this story is exactly its description and I’ll probably finish it when I remember to read it.
I really love this, the characters are so chaotic and the story well done. I hope the romance develops nicely. I wish the art was better, I’m 90% sure it would make it a much more popular and bearable read.
