I’ve seen some spoilers and stuff so I’ll just go ahead and ask. Is this story tragic? And I don’t just mean the brothers’ story, I mean the main one too. I don’t think I could deal with the heartbreak of a sad story, so I just wanna know if I should avoid this one if it’ll be too depressing/tragic.

mmm the story is told in various parts For the first "life" yea it does have a positive life for the main pair (after some struggles) tho it's a bittersweet ending/parting for lifetime 1
Lifetime 2 (part just started so we dont know yet) but it's p... slowburn angsty etc right now
/ brothers have a tragic life 1 but it seems life 2 is a lot happier for them x

Very saddening to see the slow decay of this story. Despite its unique art-style and convoluted plot, this manga has always been one of my all-time favourites, and holds a very special place in my heart. It’s kind of like shoes that you have to break in, where the start might be a bit rough but once you get into it, you can do nothing but adore it.
I’ve personally never been a fan of Norio and Kunimasa’s story, and I don’t really ship them all that much. Norio is annoying as hell and Kunimasa is equally toxic, so I was kind of hoping to see some character development overtime to no avail. I don’t see much chemistry between them, and I was kind of expecting them to either fall in love over time or go their separate ways, but it doesn’t seem like either of those has happened, which is strange considering they’re about to get engaged.
As for Shiro and Yonekuni and Yoshua and Teruhiko, I absolutely love them. They’re one of the main reasons I appreciate this story so much, and what has kept me rewatching the OVA and rereading the manga all these years. I wish we got to see more of them, and in general I just wish the main stories would get completed.
I don’t dislike the side-stories, and I really enjoy the world building that the author has gone through. However, I wish that they didn’t hold back the progress of the story as much as they do. Similarly to a story like Game of Thrones, vivid and intense world building is something to die for, but then you tread a fine line with trying to not lose the main plot. I really wish the author had continued creating this beautiful alternate world where stories about Madararui can exist, without sacrificing the main story. Perhaps they should’ve been introduced more sporadically, rather than consistently, and maybe towards the end of the story, rather than pausing the main plot just to fit in these, rather confusing, stories about characters that just convolute the plot further.
Despite all this, Sex Pistols still is and will forever be one of my favourite stories ever, not just in a BL context, but in a general fiction context. Can’t wait to see more, and hope for an eventual resolution.
This story is making me a bit sad. I’m really happy to see Yoon move on from his past and find new happiness, but Taejoo’s story is tearing me apart. I understand that he’s being painted as “the villain” to an extent, since he left Yoon for someone else. But I really sympathise with his situation. Him finding someone new is not at all strange, and I think it was quite healthy for him to move onto someone else considering he didn’t even know if Yoon would ever come back. It sucks for Yoon, but considering the position Taejoo was in I wouldn’t say he was being irrational. Can’t say I’m too happy about the person he’s with though, since he seems a bit toxic. I know it comes from a place of insecurity and fear of abandonment that he has, but Taejoo doesn’t seem to be going down a happy path and it’s honestly very saddening.
Seeing so many people hating on him in the comments just kinda makes it worse too. Like don’t get me wrong, I agree. He should move on, and considering he was the one who left Yoon first, he should try to find closure as well rather than chase him down. But like seriously guys. Think of his situation. I just feel really bad for him lol it’s actually so depressing to read
