I was on a shoujo binge and came across this one, I was unsure about reading it but the rating was so high I thought I might as well give it a go
All I can say is how the hell did anyone enjoy this shit???? I gave up after 6 chapters because the ML treats the FL like absolute SHIT and constantly gropes her against her will and bullies her and manipulates and coerces her and somehow that makes her like him????? It's honestly so so horrible to read and so toxic I truly do not understand people saying this is good

I'm 22 and started reading manga on this site when I was 10-11. Honestly, reading shoujo (smut, and yaoi too) like this really did take a toll on how I perceived relationships, as the old shoujo genre basically taught me how relationships were "supposed" to be. As a result, it gave me unrealistic standards about relationships that I had to unteach myself (relationship timing, how fo be treated, etc). My first ever "relationship" went like a toxic early 2000s shoujo, where no matter what the guy did i knew i had to wait until he came around and realized i was "the one", cause that was how it was supposed to go (lmaooo, my poor indoctrinated self).
I was still unteaching myself well into undergrad. Hell, I probably still have some things I have to unlearn.

Okay, so respect to everyone's opinion, but here is my really long defense of this manga because I really love it and I'd like to give it a proper case.
This was actually the first shoujo I ever read and while it definitely couldn't get away with some of the plot threads or details it had I still think it's pretty solid. So from a writing perspective, it is okay that Kyouta is a terrible person so long as the fact that he is terrible is addressed and his toxic behavior isn't tolerated. So, look at something like Fifty Shades of Grey which has a very toxic male character (Christian) in it. He's a horrible person, and that's okay from a writing viewpoint but for you to tell your audience that he's no longer horrible but him not changing his actions at all, that ain't cool.
But with Kyouta, he does actually change and Tsubaki's confrontation with him is literally so good cuz he's like "ahhh women didn't love me the way I wanted them too or they betrayed me and now I'm traumatized" and she shuts him down with "excuse me, no, you don't get to treat me horribly just because you have mommy issues, that doesn't fly here." And it actually gets through to him, because he works really hard changing from then on and doesn't treat Tsubaki the way he did in the first 20 chapters.
And let's be clear, Kyouta treated Tsubaki terribly in the first 20 chapters. He manipulated her, he forced kisses on her, and he played with her, and the author and Tsubaki never let him forget it. Whenever she refers to how they first met, she openly criticizes their behavior even while they're far into their relationship. She'll be like "Remember that time you literally forced a kiss on me the day we met?" and he's like "Yeah--shut up I know--I was a jerk, okay?"
Sooo, my point here being is that I will stand by this manga because I feel it actually presents a good relationship that had a bad start. Really issue isn't whether or not Kyouta was a bad person at the start, because the author makes it very clear that you're meant to think he's a bad person, but the question is if you're willing to forgive him or not. And if you're not willing to forgive him and don't think Tsubaki should have forgiven him for his mistreatment of her then that's a totally valid answer.
I dunno, I just stand by this manga because I've read it, like, seven times all the way through and still really love it (despite my issues here and there) and I feel the people who criticize this the most typically haven't read the whole thing. But also I can't blame them because the first 20 chapters Kyouta is just a big ol' jerk-face.
But I can also say I wasn't traumatized by this manga regarding my romantic expectations. I consider those failures to be because of mental illness (ha!) and lack of self-confidence! But regarding this manga, in its lessons on love it didn't teach me to "give the person who treats me horribly a second shot because, hey, he might be a good boyfriend" it taught me more about learning to let other people go at their own pace in a relationship.
Like a lot of the story is about Kyouta and Tsubaki knowing when to give each other space to figure stuff out. Kyouta learned not to pressure Tsubaki into any sexual experiences she didn't want to be in real quickly, and Tsubaki in the end was the one to initiate their first sexual experience. When Kyouta had his accident and Tsubaki was unable to decide what career path to follow, they decided to separate and allow themselves to grow and heal independently, knowing they would only damage their relationship staying together.
Seriously, I like the wholesome relationship drama because it feels pretty down to earth. Also, there is some real critique on Kyouta's toxic masculinity when he's in the accident, it's like he's really humanized and Tsubaki realizes he's not this cool, untouchable guy. Gosh dang it, that's the best "car accident" twist I've seen in a story, because sometimes it's just like "oh, drama" but this had a purpose and developed Kyouta's character in an interesting way.
Egag, I really love this manga and I'm so sorry to spam you with this comment but I just love talking about the nuances of this random shoujo manga that gets swept under the rug because it leans into some toxic tropes early in its run. Seriously, it makes no sense how good it became because I basically hate all the other work of this mangaka. Literally, almost all her other stuff before this is trashy, very toxic, like irredeemable men. But this one is legit really good and I love reading it. And you don't have to read it, but I just wanted to explain why people like it and how I, specifically, wouldn't say I was traumatized by it.

Hey just wanna say u did a great job of describing everything in detail, i don't really read comments that's this long but i literally just read and enjoyed the whole thing u wrote and i really do feel the same.
Some people might think it's toxic af when they don't even read it till half the storyline (bruh) when it's actually one of the best shoujo i've ever read (it's also one of the first shoujo i read).

This was the first shojou i've read in a while and it had that perfect soft feeling with real issues and not too much of the unnecessary that some stories end up having!
I'm just confused bc mangago has this listed as completed but MAL has it listed as ongoing?? Is there more and it just hasn't been updated or is MAL wrong????

Yet another manhwa where they suddenly start using the official translation meaning all the characters switch to crappy western names (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I don't get why these things can't just keep the original names it honestly always slightly ruins the reading experience for me, like this is a korean comic so why can't they keep their korean names ヽ(`Д´)ノ

Cuz the East still thinks that the West is too ignorant to be able to pronounce and enunciate such names. Thus, they feel the need to "westernize" their more cultural aspects (names, locations, writing). It's understandable with the dumpster-fire that is ForKids and other such animation studios but I wish they would leave the Manga alone.
Like, if we weren't already down with the Eastern names, why would we be so invested to begin with...(● ̄(エ) ̄●)

Okay so I'm only on chapter 30, so no later on spoilers plz!! But is it just me that thinks the beginning was a totally different story????? Like it was in high school and the dark haired dude was like cute puppy seme trying to get danzi's love but then suddenly they're like college(?) age and Danzi is the one in love now and dark hair dude is actually a "bad boy douche" and just all round a totally different character???? And rather than the cute fluff of trying to slowly make the uke fall for him he just becomes the stereotypical pushy, forceful and possessive seme that I've always kinda disliked?????? Where did the soft fluff feel of the first few chapters go????? Why did it jump so suddenly????
Does it ever make sense later bc honestly idk if I want to keep reading rn bc i don't like the way the seme is treating the uke anymore (especially since the uke suffered from CSA!!!)

THE TWUNK IS THE SEMMMEEEEEEE YESSSSSS I LOVE THE BIG BUFF GUY BEING THE UKE ITS SO PERFECTTTTTT
I cannot believe this is the author's first work this shits BREATHTAKING the characters and the art in general is just BEUATIFUL and the story, although short, is really good!!! It feels like this could easily become a full length series and i so so hope it does, not only does this author clearly deserve it but i really want to read more of this story, or any other story by this author!!!!

IM SQUEALING when I saw this was about a trans woman I got nervous that it was gonna be kinda transphobic and stuff but it wasn't!!!! it was good!!! Either the author is trans, knows trans people, or has just done their research because it was done so naturally and really shed some light on worries that I'm sure a lot of trans people face
My only complaint is that if the female lead wasn't trans then the characters and story are actually all a little flat/generic? But honestly I didn't mind that because I just loved reading a well done story focussing on a trans person tbh
I haven't finished this yet but I'm really enjoying how instead of the classic plot where the FL is unsatisfied so ends up cheating and finding someone new the couple actually (so far) stay together and actually learn to communicate better and strengthen their relationship - it's just really nice to see, and refreshing
Though I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the current dynamic between the second couple? Like it feels a little toxic atm?? That may just be my impression of it but honestly I hope it improves a little bc I want to enjoy their story too bc I do like the basic concept of their dynamic I just don't think it's being written as well as it could be
was the ML and the MC each other’s first times?
Totally should continue reading the Webtoon! It's really good and the second couple isn't that bad tbh, it's cute and hilarious. The manhwa is
Actually, she didn’t cheat :) she was just imagining it while yknow so she felt bad for imagining someone that wasn’t secchan
Yeah, I think the MC And ML were each other’s first times, I remember her mentioning it somewhere in the comic
Oh Oof, nvm, they weren’t each other’s first times but things were rlly awkward at first (chpt 21-23)
Im only a few chaps in but it's so nice for a change, I love how they are trying instead of those smuts that is straight up sex and cheating, etc! :P
