Note: I have heavily edited this comment because I feel my initial reaction was too emotional and misplaced. I do think this webtoon perpetuates a lot of misogynistic stereotypes about violent men being attractive if they do it "for your sake" or that someone being "slutty" needs to get their due justice by having revenge porn of them posted publicly, but I also perpetuate stereotypes by talking down to the author in a personal way and acting like this is what "straight women" write. All in all it's just better to be critical in a productive way, without being a prick. Shoutout to the person who called me out I forgot comments get deleted if I edit a post!
ok ive only read until chapter 21 and with such a high rating I was hoping for something good, but this trope in BL of tops being secretly (or not so secretly) violent men always grosses me out. Why he gotta be going around with anyone except the uke and pulling teeth out, stalking him, learning his schedule, lying to meet him, being a prick to anyone else... I just find it more terrifying than attractive.
Their first encounter was so nice too, so I thought that the story would be more in line with the tone. Him doing this 180 feels very weird, I feel even if it's explained later that his character shift is related to his transformation or whatever you want to call it, I'd be terrified if I found out a man I thought was kind and caring towards me was actually like this with anyone else all along! Either make him a fucked up red flag guy or don't.
Also I'm sorry but Super Duper Ultra Dominant Alpha???? Is this a joke? DOMINANT ALPHAS ARE ALREADY A JOKE YOU WANTED SOMETHING HIGHER THAN "DOMINANT" "ALPHA" MEN??? ( ̄∇ ̄")
Also, and this really irked me, why are we pretending that omega who slept their way to the top "got what they deserved" for having revenge porn of themselves released publicly??? That's a fucked up crime, and especially in Korea where hidden cameras in public spaces spying on women and revenge porn is so blatantly used against them, I feel it's especially damning that they used this as a way to give a "slut sleeping their way to the top" "justice". What kind of justice is that?!?!?!?
I really like Payback (imo a place where a "red flag seme" is done well) so I'm kind of really disappointed by this work by this author... I'll read a bit further to see if the story evolves in an interesting way but now that he stalked him all the way to work I'm like just drill a peephole in his bedroom at this point why won't you you clearly have no boundaries.

I feel like this author is so good because she had a shitty company desk job and like takes out her anger at dysfunctional company structures half the time by creating these great scenarios of workplace romance that always have specific gap moe circumstances lol (like the nerdy cant read the room coworker that sticks to the rules and because of it getting the short end of the stick being secretly a super hot gay pervert that hooks up with the sociable handsome secretly chaebol coworker and they both flip off the company essentially lol)
I am here for it so much!!!!!

So I guess yakuza step brother is sleeping with her confirmed. He clearly only cares about her because she's rich and "a catch". He seems so insecure..
kinda sad this guy turned into such a prick honestly when he grew up with them. Wonder what went down between him and their father. He admired him yet he keeps on saying mc looks or acts like the dad like it's a bad thing, so he clearly holds a grudge against their father too.

no i get that ive read all the chapters but he keeps on saying mc reminds him of his father with disdain about it. If it was just that he'd be mainly bitter towards him, but he wouldn't throw shit at the dad too I think. I think there's something else that happened between them as well. But that's just my guess.

bruh the plot is so paper thin it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
1) he goes to the "Domination" kingdom to save his friend, with a time limit. As a king, who is A WEAK SPECIES. But BY HIMSELF. ???
2) he goes there finds his friend and the weird yandere grand duke, gives a speech that annoys the grand duke and makes him attack, so not very persuasive either..
3) TURNS OUT THE KING FIGURED OUT HOW TO AVOID THE GRAND DUKE'S MANIPULATION SKILLS ALL ALONG BY *checks notes* DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT JUST TRUST US THAT IT HAPPENED WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING LIKE THOUGHT TO BE PUT INTO THIS STORY???
4) TURNS OUT HIM BEING THERE WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY HE WAS ONLY THERE AS THE VIEWER'S POV TO MOVE ON THE PLOT WHY IS HE SO USELESS HELP ME
5) Random extra grandduke shows up out of nowhere without a proper introduction
and uuuuh gives a hickey to the mc that he doesn't notice???? Like... IT'S A HICKEY NOT LIPSTICK STAIN BRUH WTF HOW DID HE NOT NOTICE???
Like aesthetically the story has such drama potential but it's so thoughtlessly written, it's like 95% of the people who churn out isekai webtoons just don't give a shit about making a coherent, good story, they just care about aesthetics

Unfortunately, it wasn't like this in the novel. The MC isn't as stupid and he was trying to get stronger by himself. And the whole thing where he goes to save his friend happens before he goes to his own kingdom, and the confrontation with the yandere grand duke was not as stupid as shown here. And once he meets his own grand duke the guy rightfully chews him out for putting himself at risk to which the MC agrees with and stops doing. And the grand duke is not that rapey in the novel!! It's R15 so they don't really do it either like it's shown here.

these are some super weird changes to make in a webtoon smh >__> it feels like the artist and original author weren't working together at all or something.
I'm not surprised though it does feel even while reading this that there is an "actual" story here that is being skipped over or neglected as you read it, it feels like someone is summarizing events you are supposed to know already happened or something... whoever is making the storyboards really isn't good at their job, shame cause the art is nice and the story had potential :(

I think reading the novel is worth it. I mean it's mtl so you might miss some details or not understand everything, but I still think it's better than the manhwa since they've changed it so much. And if you want to start reading the novel then begin from ch 1 since they literally skipped out on an entire arc in the beginning. And you can always change to read the manwha if you don't understand the mtl, but for me the mtl is pretty good in this novel.

I really like how Maxi is turning out. Also that the story makes clear that Riftan is insecure and petty, and that his behaviour isn't coming from a rightful place Meaning Maxi is here to teach him as well. I'm so done with stories where one person is weak and lacking in some way and the other partner manic pixie fixes them up by being perfect but also miraculously attracted to them.
Here they both are insecure, faulty people, and they are both not only learning from each other, but from others around them. I had my doubts about where the princess arc was going, but I'm happy to see how it evolved. Curious to see how these two turn out because ironically enough Riftan feels like he has a lot more growth to do than Maxi at this point lmao
the concept's good but it's all way too rushed. Guess it happens. An author has a specific story in mind but needs to fit it within the given limit. Sad. It just wasn't really believable with how fast things happened
