That's actually not that uncommon. People raise pigs and show them for contests and stuff, they cherish and nurture them until.....dinner time! The term 'prized pig' comes from that. Cows too! It is weird though.

I think I will make the tradition of reading this every year on my birthday. It's probably my favorite manga of all time in terms of how many emotions it stirs up inside me, and I honestly think this is a masterpiece and should be made into a movie one day so that I can convince my non fujoshi friends to watch it. I feel like I have been cleansed after reading this again ~ it feels pretty great.
