Well he is nice and one of those rare people who doesn't treat Penelope like trash but he just isn't the right one for her. You'll eventually get it while reading the story. And besides, the age difference was a little turn off for me. Vinter is like 26 years old and Penelope is 17.

I totally feel you, I felt the same way too. But the reason he acts the way he does is because of that bitch ass Queen and the second Prince. They've been sending assassins to kill him ever since he was very young so he always has to be on guard and can trust absolute no one. So when he bumped into Penelope when they first met, he thought she was one of those assassins and threatened her. But when he falls for her, boy does he regret doing that. He even went as far as handing Penelope a dagger and telling her to do the same to him if that'll make her forgive him.

8 years actually, Penelope is 18 years old. Honestly, age is not that much of a big deal for me but still, it does kinda feel weird.
It makes me really excited for their interactions since we've only seen penelope with the other guys. And with her character it makes you think how she ends up falling for him and vice versa and how their relationship would develop throughout the story
