Read the first comment in the comment section above, i didn't read the previous work, but to answer to your question yes they kinda are connected since the mc (black hair dude) was a male interest in the previous one, didn't end up well for him lol,so now he is a bottom (=・ω・=), this story is a sequel but it isn't really that necessary to read the main story since the two mcs interact properly only here so yeah (if your interested only in their story) ....
