It took 25 chapters for him to realize this shit I know he's not supposed to understand emotions because he's the cool, calm, and collected ml with a sad backstory but shit isn't he also supposed to be smart.
I think he understood the he was in love with her already though that's why he kept near her but just now that he's certain of it because of everything that happens he made sure to tell her that it was indeed love
He knew he was in love with her that night when mc defended him. Looking at him through his situation and how he grew, he just didn’t understand what it would feel like even more (like the constant worry or always thinking about her) after all they still haven’t been together that long. Also ik he is a character who is calm and collected (that’s business) but emotional & his psychological thoughts are suppose to reflect one as a child (he still believed people just want his money (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ And that is what drives people insane, jealous or malicious acts before meeting our mc)
He's hella smart though. He's aware that Ripley doesn't wanna marry him. But he's just really love her so much to the point of obsession. However his character will improve. So dw.
