It's been a while since I read this so I forgot but the dude who kept badmouthing prude...umm what was the reason for him to that again? I remember thinking he was a piece of shit but I need to know why he badmouthed her unnecessarily(I forgot if he was her father's sidekick or a gaurd I don't remember).
Also fuck the queen. She neglected her child because of a stupid prophecy that SHE could have changed and ultimately made her into a villain(I'm talking about novel pryde). Negligence is abuse. Of fucking course past pryde was gonna be heartless because her parents were heartless with her to begin with. Yes I'm pointing at her dad too because he watched all this shit happen from the sideline and just wnet along with it while being lovey dovy with his asswipe wife.
I would much rather have a cliche evil stepmom rather than this piece of garbage who has the audacity to act like a victim. "Boohoo I'm a bad mom, honey comfort me, I'm such a bad mom

The one who (famously) spread rumors about Pryde was her father's assistant and best friend, the Prime Minister, Gilbert Butler. WHY he did it hasn't come up in the manga yet, so I'm gonna be a bit vague, but in the novel ...

He did it because he was trying to gain support for a bill that he wanted to get passed. The Royal Family (Queen, Prince Consort, Prince Regent, and Pryde) refused to rubberstamp the bill to put it into law, so Gilbert was courting the anti-royalist faction and convincing members of the parliament to side with him instead of the Terrible Future Queen (read: Pryde).
So Gilbert had no legitimate grievances against Pryde; he was just desperate, and she was an easy target.

There are reasons (though you can't really justify his actions; there is literally no justification), and Gilbert does get a LOT better as the story goes on. He's probably my second or third favorite male character in the series now. (Order is: Val, Harrison or Gilbert, Curi, Eric, Jack, Stayle or Kemet ... and the rest is kinda vague.)
Compare to the Queen, who after 900+ chapters and various flashbacks and POV scenes that explained her background, precognitive ability, and the whole situation with Pryde ... plus several years of character development ... only makes me not want to hit her anymore. A child abuse victim suffering from PTSD just isn't worth the hate, and so long as she doesn't do anything stupid to Pryde, I just let her go. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Absolutely valid. If it helps at all, know that Gilbert is going to spend the rest of his days atoning for his crimes--and he's going to live for hundreds of years. So he DOES NOT get let off easy at all.
I just wish the manga wasn't completely ruining the arc dealing with Gilbert. The novel's writing isn't flawless, but the manga-ka's ad-libs make no logical sense. They had enough pages to do it right!! ╥﹏╥
Um, she ain't crazy about money, she's just trying to survive???? I don't get it..am I missing somthing in the story? It's not evil to want to survive. Yes, her desperation for money was used as means to do evil deeds. I get that. I understand that this time, it's more about becoming a knight and not be controlled by the bastard. But um... he needing money isn't greed or evil tho??
She was trying to survive at first but probably lost her way in the middle. Some people may start off doing bad deeds under innocent pretext but without realising, continue to do so as an excuse to justify their sins. She killed the innocents for more money and land etc. Those werent done "to survive".
Ahh I see
