Lol Dohwa it is. I’m sorry but Eunhyuk’s mind games and lil gestures were cute in high school but now all I see is a complete dick. Ego shouldn’t be his priority after how he handled things. If this manhwa focused on the psychological bit, Suae would’ve been such a wreck, especially since having evaded ‘death’ and Eunhyuk being her light through all of that bs.
Holy shit I pulled an all-nighter for the first time in awhile and now I feel like shit. I’m writing a review solely because the author did a wonderful job in capturing life’s biggest heartbreak a.k.a. dreams. It was like the texts were putting a name to what I’m feeling in my 20s lol. Yuhan’s backstory definitely broke something inside of me,, oh and mc’s father’s stupid letter. He was such a sweet angel. It’s unfair that his happy days are numbered. Yuhan did dream of being a spectator so I’ll just hc that he’s out there watching the mc live out her life with a piece of him always xx

Broken theories and my brain fog. Take everything with a grain of salt.
Came back from the raws only to get more dumbed out from both Il-in (reincarnated to the director) and Mu Ni (reincarnated to Kitae). Long story short, Mu Ni had this love at first sight thing towards Il-in, his master, and also a known rake. Il-In was disgusted by Mu Ni’s affections (it was borderline creepy as he did stalk him relentlessly) so he discarded him in a pit hole to die. Mu Ni was in a coma when his body got retrieved and taken to Il-In’s residence. He was barely alive at this point. One important detail is that the Mu Ni in the pit hole, swore to himself that he would never love Il-In again but he can’t really help about his situation now. Il-In takes interest in the vegetative state of Mu Ni, saying how he should’ve saved Mu Ni if he knew he would mean this much to him rn. Since Mu Ni has been in a coma since forever, he has no way to sustain himself back in the old days and was slowly dying. While Il-In was locked up in Mu Ni’s room, he overheard a rumor about a man-eating snake who can imitate humans. Il-In brought a shaman (reincarnation of Yuran, the fem employee) and did a ritual so that he can start over with Mu Ni again. They needed Mu Ni and the snake alive. Capturing the snake took many lives of Il-In’s people (basically they’re the ghosts that lingers around Kiyoon in the office). They fed Mu Ni’s blood to the snake therefore killing Mu Ni, and having the snake take the form of the original Mu Ni (the blood contained fragments of Mu Ni’s soul). Thinking that the ritual was a success, Il-In wanted one more thing- to separate Mu Ni’s old self from his new body (when he was in love with Il-In) so they sealed this part of Mu Ni in the bookmark. However, after transferring Mu Ni’s memories into the snake, the snake felt Mu Ni’s rage and resentment, and attacked Il-In resulting in the scar on his eye (this dumbass Il-In erased the ONLY good parts of him in Mu Ni’s memories so what remained was when he resented Il-In in the pit hole and when he was a vegetable lol). This caused the ritual to fail.
Feeling pity for Il-In’s frame holding the dead body of Mu Ni, the shaman told Il-In that they may redo the ritual again when they’re reincarnated but with a price. Il-In was more than happy to accept. The shaman buried both of their bodies together so that their souls may be tied in reincarnation (red string of fate theory; this is why Il-In thinks he’s destined to be with Kiyoon (mc)). However, the snake actually cursed Il-In so that he doesn’t remember his past, this caused his reincarnation’s soul to be empty (can’t function without a human’s life force which he gets thru sex. This is exactly reenacted by the manager that had his sex tape recorded by mc (this manager is a ghost but he’s neither Il-In nor the real Yitae). He was created by the lovestruck Mu Ni (the one sealed in the bookmark) to help sustain Il-In’s reincarnation. He feeds off energy from Jumin and the others (there was this flashback of his past “food” before Jumin who resembled the vegetative Mu Ni the more the fake Yitae feeds from him; no idea if he’s still alive). The ritual is simple actually: Mu Ni’s reincarnation must end up with Il-In’s reincarnation. What makes it messy are due to the snake’s curses, vengeful spirits, and Mu Ni’s broken soul (there are three of them: 1) Kiyoon, whom the ritual was done for, Il-In’s fated pair, 2) the bookmark, and 3) the snake.
Kiyoon’s adamant attitude to ignore the ghosts around him is actually because of the snake. The snake manifested himself in Kiyoon’s memories as the hazy figure he made promise to: to ignore the ghosts and to stay away from Il-In (this is why he was a bit biased in his hatred towards Yitae from the start). Kiyoon became the host of the dead who couldn’t pass on so Kiyoon has to live with that fact until the ritual is over. Although they’re attached to Kiyoon, they have different motives (some wants to kill Il-In, are scared of Il-In, and are loyal to Il-In so sometimes Kiyoon’s body would move on its own accord to suit Il-In’s taste). The more memories Kiyoon recovered, the more visible the ghosts that haunted him became. Kiyoon recognized one of them as Mu Ni’s ghost (which was actually the snake). The snake tried to block off Kiyoon’s past as much as he can because it wanted to protect Mu Ni’s reincarnation this time around. When Il-In trapped Kiyoon, the snake took over Kiyoon’s body and tried to kill Il-In.
The twinks looks the most like Mu Ni but Kiyoon is his reincarnation (it’s just that Kiyoon is Il-In’s usual type and now Yitae’s, so he projects himself towards the meek and shy guys who likes the manager because that’s how he was treated before). This part was a bit sad tbh.
In the raws, Kiyoon, Yitae, and Il-In had 3p sex, making it the first time Yitae and Il-In appear in front of Kiyoon at once (one of them is usually asleep while the other roam arounds; both are conscious at the same time although Yitae has a more foggy recollection of what happens). Both wants Kiyoon for themselves but Kiyoon just wants to go back to the way things were before the sex tape so he eventually stops playing pretend and investigates. There were also chapters where Kiyoon appeared to have developed feelings for the director but this were all because he started regaining his memories from the past and went back to treating him like normal after. To gather information, Kiyoon starts gaslighting the fake Yitae since he was the easiest target and is starting to care for Kiyoon. Also, I’m 80% sure Il-In is the main antag at this point (he’s a psychopath that has no remorse for his actions so far and even goes as far to genuinely believe that Kiyoon owes him for bringing him back to life). The real Yitae is kind of useless in the storyline ngl (Kiyoon prefers sex with him the most though since he was very patient compared to Il-In and the fake Yitae).
Lastly, I have no idea who the ml is since the cover kind of reminds me of the fake Yitae (in the latest chapter, he’s losing his form as he strays further away from Mu Ni’s purpose for him as Yitae. He’s also seen to have identity crisis whether if he was Yitae or Il-In that’s why the readers all thought he was the original Il-In from the start).
Well more or less I don’t know what I’m talking about since the story itself is confusing and is still unfinished. I’m just bored af = ) lol no the story is intriguing. Love our mc and the snake to death.
