Often times it’s mostly westerners or people who aren’t familiar with yaoi or only like the fluffy stuff that are coming on here when the webtoons and comics are popularized to complain about the plot. It’s lowkey just erotica and porn. Read something of your tastes, or don’t read it at all. I’m pretty sure half of the people complained knew what they were going to be jumping into, the story doesn’t hide the seme is a shitty person or how the plot is going to evolve. I’m sure you have also seen the comments and had a fair share of warnings of possible triggers. It literally has sex scenes that drag on for chapters long. It’s about a sex crazed noble in ancient Korea. It’s a fucked up story, and it’s meant to be. Some people are into it more than others. No one is claiming the rape is good, but some people do enjoy the plot and it obviously has it’s audience. It just gets annoying when people try and educate us on how this is bad or wrong or complain about the story and acting like saints. Like we just wanna see them have hot sex dawg. And of course it’s unrealistic and romanticized that a victim falls in love with the rapist, but in the end it’s just a fictional plot that has been overused in yaoi and it’s kind of just expected now. Like the pizza dude and the baby sitter. Why act all virtuous on a site that is basically just erotica and porn between two hot guys? I’m sure there are plenty of content that are more to your tastes, just stick to them. Stories like this and ones by Harada are a guilty pleasure. Don’t ruin this for others because you don’t enjoy it personally.
Edit: For all those who are probably saying to themselves, “Well I’m entitled to my opinion and I should be able to share them. “
Of course, freedom of speech. But so many of the comments I see regarding it are kind pretty condescending and have less to do with the plot and more to do with the contents of it. Like, it gets annoying when I want to see topics and comments relevant to the story but instead see people being shamed for liking the story and such, and acting like they’re above it. The story isn’t perfect. I personally wish the characters had more dialogue and since it’s only the beginning there is way more room for characters and the story to develop. But in the end it’s not that deep?? We can just all respect each other’s opinions? No need to be toxic about it?

Western people? I think it's more like kids who are complaining and people with dead brain cells or just haters who who just want to hate, it's in their dna

Yaoi prime collection of 'romanticizing' tropes: (for ADULTS by the way)
- Incest
- Furries ( aka Bestiality)
- Omegaverse (prego men -- the ultimate Yaoi is heteronormative gay fetishism )
- Shotacon
- Yakuza/Killers and other variety of hot assassins semes/ukes.
- Rape Plot
- Whatever weird kink Yaoi authors can come up with
- Never mind the Shounei Ai depicting abuse/sexual abuse/toxic behavior codified as cutesy love story . (a genre actually targeted to young teenagers, the irony is lost to the woke crowd)
'Woke' superior and morally superior PON readers: omg, rape plot is so wrong, I wish it wouldn't exist in Yaoi.... how can anyone ship them? what if some readers think it's okay to fall in love with their rapists???
LOL.

God bless this list LMAO
Legit, a lot of yaoi has problematic plots and character that are poorly resolved if at all. A lot of it is just fun to read from some people or just a guilty pleasure. Like, I personally don’t like a lot of omegaverse plots, but the whole omegaverse caste system is pretty fucked up and sexist. It’s full of rape and degradation. Yet, it’s one of the most popular settings used.
I feel most people should just avoid these stories if they are easily offended or may be triggered by these issues.
Of course there are well written stories with developed characters and proper plots and settings. Just look for the ones right for you.
I

I just see a trend where a certain webtoon or manga will get very popular on social media. Not to gatekeep or anything, but outsiders are often english speakers/westerners and are the ones that complain about the plot and stuff. Take for example Yuri on Ice, it had become pretty popular in western media, and a lot of fans were sending death threats and threatening doujin makers that made any slightly edgy content involving Yuri and Viktor. If you were aware of the drama that occured from a CERTAIN doujin, you know what I’m referring to. I just feel like a lot of western audiences act very entitled and are very aggressive towards content they dislike. Or, have a very toxic fandom culture.
So this isn’t about certain tragic tales about technology in the future
