
read the novel and oh my god. the horse part was genuinely revolting. my opinion is that no one should read this unless you just want to be disappointed. raymond's unwavering commitment to take revenge was the only good part. the novel just felt like it wanted to add copious amounts of rape and torture for the sake of it. also it's so convoluted i'm not even kidding like just kill him at this point bc what the hell is even going on

what's the random rape plot device like yas let's make fun of a real issue! especially since it had such a minuscule impact on the story.

What I meant to say was that it doesn't feel like the author was making fun of a "real issue" more likely exposing the "reality of these false accusations" since in the end, it didn't influence the story. We get lots of these here in France. Really, a fucking whole lot.
Which actually end up shadowing the real victims, so ...
