I think the reason why she couldn't figure the answer is because in her first life,altho she was given a lot of love,those love from people is too shallow to be even recognized by a narcissist. And her other lives,well, she was married to a drunkard but didn't do anything well. She became an empress and all of those love confession she received is from people whose hungry for power and connection.
Like how can she help herself or try to open up for other people if the only thing she gets is shallow/half assed feelings and emotions.
