Is the title Hate Mate because no one can really stand each other even when they have feelings for each other lol. That's the vibe I get.

I really love both of them. They're just so... wholesome?? good kids?? I hope they get a sequel.

The second story was paced kind of oddly and doesn't really make rational sense... I didn't get what was going on until maybe half way through. Love the first story though, I hope there's another chapter.

What's so interesting to me about Taemin and his protective feelings as a child towards Woojin is that it really fits with the symptoms of child abuse. Thinking back on that time he held Woojin, he says, "Saving Min Woojin from the storage was really special to me. [...] I felt something I had never felt before pressing heavily against my throat. That was…an emotion I would never forget."

One potential warning sign of emotional abuse is that the child either acts inappropriately infantile (ie. thumb-sucking, throwing tantrums) or inappropriately adult (ie. taking care of other children); in this case, the latter. Woojin as well, exhibits symptoms of emotional distance from his family and peers, while clinging onto Taemin and feeling anxious at the threat of abandonment by him. It's interesting to see the ways the author factors in the consequences of domestic violence in the way these two grew up. (Although it being fiction, I'd say they're both remarkably well-adjusted overall.)

Came for the comedy, stayed for the genuine emotion and surprisingly compelling cast of characters.

where the story left off was already good but the happy ending we got is even better. so glad these two could finally be together

Looks like the story is setting up Jae Won and Jun Seo? But even if they stay just friends, that would also be great.. I really love how the characters and relationships are developed, and how, unlike most BL, the MC actually pretty easily accepts himself and is able to be honest about his sexuality with his friend and crush. That's very refreshing to see.

Eh, he told Ha Ram (his crush) about being gay or something? I remember the friend, but I don't remember him telling his crush also? *blink*

Oh, sorry for being unclear. He didn't explicitly tell Ha Ram that he's gay yet, but I was surprised by how honestly he told him he agreed to go on the date because he wanted to get closer with him. Even if Ha Ram sees that as just friendship, I think it's really brave of Jae Won. Usually MCs in BL aren't this straightforward about their intentions, haha.

Wow I really didn't expect this story to get so complex and emotional since it started off with such a bizarre premise. The way Woojin and Taemin struggle with how stable their identities are and the threat of being 'erased' while also experiencing parallel anxiety over abandonment is masterfully done. Bravo to the comic artist!
