I honestly think that the second lead could’ve redeem himself if he stopped being a mama’s boy from the start. His mom has manipulated fl growing up under her wing the 2nd lead should’ve made an initiative to become independent from his mom. Or atleast half way of his adulthood. Imagine if he became independent and started his own business or if not he took control of their business to the point that he is untouchable that even his mom couldn’t interfere. He would’ve been the perfect love interest. But no lol he’s kept being a mama’s boy (its a turn off for me lol) He kept wanting validation and love from the fl but seeing as how his mom is treating fl (as a pawn for her business and a slave) and how he is still dependent to his mom the fl being a smart person that she is naturally she can’t see her self settling with the second lead. Imagine having an evil mother in law that is obsessed with her son lol.

Nah even if he did get independent he would’ve never been a plausible love interest let alone the perfect one, the reason for this is simple: the fl has never once even liked him even as a human being. She was never interested in being his friend and would gladly have forgotten he even existed if she wasn’t a slave to his mother—who wants the fl to be his ‘friend’ aka help her to control him.
If the ML was in the exact same position as the second lead (though I don’t think that title is even accurate tbh, he is just a fly buzzing in her life) she would still love him and not loose any respect for him. She knows what it’s like to have a shitty mother and also what it’s like to be powerless, she wouldn’t lose respect for someone for those reasons.
The reason she is uninterested and doesn’t respect the other guy isn’t because of his mother’s control, but because she was NEVER interested in him EVER and he also NEVER EVER did anything to earn her respect. Completely outside of his mother, he has never shown himself to be interesting or worthy of respect to her. In all of their interactions from the very beginning, he had the appeal of drywall to her (only creepier, because he fawned after her for no reason and with no encouragement on her part).
