Not when there’s a power dynamic such as this, it’s rape. Kind of similar to a minor consenting to sex with an adult. They could be enthusiastically consenting— but even then there’s a power dynamic involved and the minor’s brain is not yet fully grown. It’s not true consent. And with our MC (as much as I love him and this story) he used his status and power and religious sway to have sex with his followers. Even down to him teaching some how to do it, that it’s ‘worship’. It’s sexual exploitation.
It’s important to know all this so that we are aware incase there was ever a real life situation like this around us (unfortunately there are lots of sex cults that use similar techniques to prey on their followers and exploit them sexually) but in the end this is a story. No one has actually been hurt, they are just characters and there is nothing wrong at all with liking the story or the characters— and there’s noting wrong with even enjoying the smut.
As I said, it’s just good to know it’s real life implications so that we know that, even though it’s fun in the story, if this was real life it would be morally and legally wrong.
