It's not the same religion though. Buddhist and Shinto priests (in Japan, anyway) aren't like priests in Catholicism. And followers don't view them the same way.

This story hit close to home for me. My grandpa did the exact same thing to my uncle when he found out he's gay. My mom told me that he wore a girl's uniform for a whole week. It's sad that because of that their relationship is strained even now, he still gives his respect to his parents but he built up a wall between him and my grandparents.
