I don't get why people are saying that the Duke killed Kira. It was the kingdom who did. I mean they had a whole prophecy about a fake daughter of this specific house bringing disaster to the entire kingdom so naturally the king would have to kill off the threat in order to protect his people. The Duke has no power to make that choice at all. The Duke is a complete dick and yes he did not choose to help her single bit, like maybe help her escape, but either way he has no power over that decision.
