We still don't know much but if it's what I think it is then this might be dissociative fugue. It's a form of dissociative dementia where a person will suddenly forget about their past and at the spot travel to different place, start a new life, make a new family as if everything is normal. Also the memories can return as suddenly as it went away anytime without warning therefore that can explain his home back.
