My biggest pet peeve is grandparents treating grandchildren better than they treated their own kids. It’s frustrating to see it firsthand with my own mother but it’s so distasteful
It sure is. But the thing is, when our parents were raising us, it was their first time being a parent as well. With their grandchildren and the wisdom that came by seeing how we grew up through their guidance(?) and parentage, they get to do it all over again.
This isn't me defending them, btw. I've also experienced firsthand how the trauma I've gone through was no longer happening to my niece. They're the adults and back then, we were the kids. They should've known better, but they didn't. It all boils down to how we can accept that it wouldn't change the past even if it leaves a bitter taste in our mouths. ٩(๑❛︿❛๑)۶
