Cain is most likely Blake. Rex said that Cain made a deal with him, causing him to have Cain’s memories and for Cain to lose his. As for what the deal is, it’s most likely related to Elise and probably something along the lines of “let the two of us end up together” or something.
This Blake clearly isn’t the Blake from the novel as his personality is completely different from what Elise was expecting. This coupled with the fact that “Lucas” (no clue what his real name is) couldn’t enter Blake’s body means that someone else is inhabiting it. So who else could it be other than Cain?
Again, Rex said that Cain doesn’t have his memories but his original feelings for Elise might still linger in his heart, causing him to act extremely affectionate towards her from the beginning. Also, Cain was supposed to play the role of Blake when him and Elise were still alive so…

I have a love-hate relationship with stories like this. A part of me wants to see him cry more, to see how much the author will make him suffer before he gets with the FL, but another part of me wants her to hurt him even more by getting with someone else (since she can’t escape any other way) and therefore not end up with him.
He’s an incredibly selfish character who (despite being described as a good ruler) is surprisingly naive in thinking that he can somehow win her heart after tormenting her for 14 years he’s aware that she died because of him (not once but 4 times more because she didn’t want to meet him), so why is he hurting her even more by not letting her leave
