... BangAqua didn't drop it. They are working on it...
Seriously...

Things-all-love were translating it before they had to drop it. Announcement here. --> http://things-all-love.tumblr.com/post/157099415193/given-scanlations
I think they decided(current translators) that they would translate it too because bangaqua has ALOT of stuff and their releases will be quality but will take a while.
Since there were a lot of people asking for it, I don't see why it's not okay for another group to pick it up too! Given is so far behind and they're already translating and writing summaries for the raws anyway.

It is not that I'm not ok with other people helping translate this manga, the thing is that there are rules between the trasnslators: if you want to translate a manga you have to first investigate if any other group is already translating it, if no one has picked it up then you are fine, but if someone already has then you leave it alone, unless it has been a lot of time since the last time the put out a translated chapter, in which case you don't just take it, you have to contact the scanlation group and ask them if they dropped the project and if you can continue from were they left it. It is common sense and manners.

Eh... I wouldn't say they're "rules" per se, more like etiquette? If the new translators didn't let bangaqua know that they're translating it, that's kinda shitty. I definitely think the best thing to do would have been for the new group to ask to do a joint project. I think that's a fair compromise. I mean people have lives outside translating manga, it's understandable but there are people who WANT to read new chps. faster even if it's not the highest quality. And there are people who are also willing to translate it.
But I don't think it's okay for one group to say "We're translating this so you don't get to touch it". In which case I think it's fair game for other people to translate it. I don't really know what the case is here. There's always going to be a "he said she said" thing. But I am definitely glad to be reading ch 12 now!

The thing is that scanlations claim projects so that there can be an order. I mean if no one claimed them then we could have 3 different scanlation groups doing the same project which would be counterproductive. Imagine you have taken time and money out of your life to buy the manga, scan it, clean it, translate it, proofread it etc, and then someone just steals the project from under you and publishes a chapter, it undermines everything you have done, it makes all the effort and time you put on it a waste.
And yeah, people have a life outside translating which is why they don't put chapters out ther everyday, but people need to learn some freaking patience because "people wanting faster updates" is not an excuse to take a project from someone without asking.
And if the translator really wants to translate manga then instead of taking a manga that is already being translated by another group then they can ask to join that group to help out or just take one of the dozens off mangas that have been dropped.

Right, THEY dropped it. SO Bangaqua didn't do anything wrong. They just toke an abbandoned project. That is all. It wouldn't have cost them anything to ask first, if they need help with it or else. BangAqua would have acceptet the help since they need it.
Also don't forget that some groups (like mine), do not work with illegally shared raws. We BUY our copies. Sometimes we also buy 2 of them so we can use one for translating (the scanning process ruins the entire volume), and one for our own collection. Other just buy some Series which they aren'T even interested in, so they can traslate them. It IS an unspoken rule and not just an etiquette.
What is not ok is the WAY TAL did it. This is what we are talking about.
We need all to just accept it when we do wrong. No matter if it was with or without bad intentions. Everything would be fine.

I understand that there is propriety/decorum to the scanlation process that should be followed. And I am, by all means, looking forward to BangAqua's version of ch12 as well, because they deliver high quality translations/scanlations. But it has been over 6 months since the last legitimate chapter was uploaded in December (I am not counting the 2 page extra that was released in March because ya know.. it was pointless) but we did get a double whammy of a chapter PLUS an 8pg extra in December which was AMAZING and well appreciated! So I look at these quickly scanlated chapters from the other group as just like.. a happy extra surprise to help whet our appetites for the more in-depth main course that is yet to come. And it is understandable that it takes time to do good work and all the people at BangAqua have lives and we appreciate that they are even working on this manga for us at all!! So while I understand it might not be the proper way to go about it... I am, at the same time, conflicted because I am just happy to be able to see the words I am able to read along side the pictures they go with at the same time. lol.
... have it too...
