Damn I love this webtoon, the dad deserved a worse death than that. I'm trying so so so hard to understand the mom and not hate her for abandoning her son in the hands of a monster. But in a realistic sense, she couldn't be a mother at that time because she had to fend for herself, is that excusable? No, was it heartbreakingly hard for her? Yes. We can all judge her, but once you face that for so many years that you literally collect parts of your shattered self and finally get the courage to get out, it's so difficult to truly heal from that. And she most likely didn't have any money to even suport herself, I wonder where she went after that and how did she survive until she fled the country, and how did she survive in Russia. There's so many unsolved questions about her and her circumstances, but we can all agree it was hell for her, and she lost a part of herself when she abandoned her only son. To me she was a very irresponsible mother, but she's only a broken human who barely got the courage to get up and leave.

This just bring tears to my eyes. I can’t imagine myself being in her position and had to deal with heavy guilt while also overcoming my own feats and trauma. Indeed it is easy for onlookers to tell and judge but it is hard enough for her to run away from constant abuse, and possible murder attempt, while also fending for herself in a new region, with a language so foreign to her. If I were in Inwoo’s position, I too couldn’t forgive her for what she did to me but I think I can empathise with her and maybe the forgiveness will come in due time as I grew older. Just like how irl we forgive our parents cause we realize life is never fair to everyone

I will not shut up about it, they need to give the baby a name omg it's driving me insane. (/TДT)/ if the author's gonna only give her a name when it ends my frustration literally will kill me i-

Can someone tell me if this is worth the read? Is it sad?

    Jesse January 17, 2025 4:47 pm

It's worth reading, I can't really remember much cause I read it years ago, but I don't think it was sad. There is angst though

I read the novel in Spanish and if I remember correctly I think it was the side stories (chapter 200 or something). I read the novel about 4 years ago so my memory is a bit foggy. I can't seem to find the link. Sorry

I can't understand why he takes the beating as a full grown adult. That inheritance must be far more important than his own self-respect. I'm not throwing shade at ml, his father is a disgusting trash but it makes me furious how he doesn't stand up for himself. I hope the father suffers a lot, what a trashy parent.

must be trauma too, many abuse victims feel like less than their abusers so they think the abuser will always find them!/that there's no escape.

I do agree. If you're being abused since you were a child, you'll view abuse as a normal situation for you (which is sad) because you grew up in that kind of environment. And in some instances, if you don't get beat up or the abuse stop, you'll definitely feel something is wrong. Comfortability and safety is going to feel like a dangerous situation.

It is also different if you're abuser is your parents/guardian. As a child you view parents/guardian as someone who will guide you, so in your eyes they are right. Now if that parents/guardian abuses you, you'll think that they are right and you did something wrong. The child will take abuse as a punishment.

This type of abuse is really hard to escape, and they sometimes (most probably) develop trauma bond.

    Hugs for the ml •  ‿ ,•
