For the beginners, i recommend reading shounen ai first and when you crave for moree then that is the time you move on to yaoi.

Cause smut in shoujo manga simply cant satisfy me anymore.
I know i sound like a horny girl but... in my opinion, most plots of yaoi mangas are 100 times better than shoujo. It makes your heart goes all fluttering.

Hahaha. I totally agree. I started with reading shoujo manga then I accidentally stumbled on a hardcore yaoi. I freaked out and I kept asking myself what the hell was I reading (needless to say, i kept reading until i finishied) i didn't appreciate it at first but after a while i prefer yaoi more than shoujo. Lesson, start with shoujo, move to shounen si then yaoi. Yaoi has better stories to be frank

Hey, I was not used to yaoi either when I first read it. I did start out with shoujo/josei, did like the romance at first until most of the female leads in there are like fuckin' annoying as hell that you can't stand the shits they do like going in recklessly without having a plan when their asses are in trouble just to have some guys to come in and save them. Once I stumbled upon shounen-ai, I started to get into it more because you can feel the romance between the 2 guy characters of what they have for each other whereas the boyxgirl couple, don't feel anything for them whatsoever. Then when it comes to yaoi, couldn't get into it until a few years later, then I started to read more of it. Let's just say I'm not used to sex scenes, not even in straight manga for that matter. But I got over it and just went for it :)
