Honestly, I wonder what the story was between her and Rias in her previous life. It shows a glimpse of them interacting, but it doesn't give much of what their relationship was exactly. If you think about it, why would a duke reach out to a fallen noble daughter? How did they meet? Lippe may think he doesn't hold a very strong part in her past, but honestly, it's strange to think that they were even as close as they were shown unless Rias had a motive. (And the reason can't just be, he thinks she's pretty. Rias doesn't seem shallow. He's interested in Lippe now because of her voice and attitude. Her cuteness is just a bonus.)
