Bruh going back to this, I must have been a bit blindsided bc although the story had it's potential for me, it irked me that SA and r*pe scenes were beautified in addition with the art like what's with all the mannequin/statue costumes and lacy veils during that one chapter like what's the purpose with that. and the fucking ROSE like what is UP with that like if the author truly wanted to go along with unveiling the horrific truths about human trafficking and pedophilia then they shouldn't have focused too much on making the scenes look like art. It's unsettling and strays away from the actual root of the problem. Atp the author is fetisizing those scenes.

At some level we were supposed to see what the abusers were seeing and what made them so addicted.
This is what I thought so too however I was pertaining to the way the author draws him during the SA scenes. Ik geom is beautiful and that is entirely the reason why men are addicted to him alas where the "male gaze" is shown during those scenes but it is still deeply unsettling no matter how gracefully geom seems to endure it.
I do think that even if the story's main purpose is not about the realities of human trafficking, it is still partly supposed to show the horrifics of it as the story is about how geom's life went spiralling down bc of it. Don't get me wrong, this story is one that remains in my mind after having read it for almost 2 years, so it's one that lives up to its potentiality. I actually think the author made a decent job making a story with a sensitive topic. It's just the SA scenes specifically that, although plays a major part in that sensitive topic, is done rather in a way that is borderline fetishization at least to me. I love the art, and Ik geom is beautiful and that we are looking at those scenes from the "male gaze" as we call it, but I do think it's not always necessary to include all scenes of him getting r*ped and admiring the way he looks while doing so.

While i agree to some degree because actually at the begging of the story i was pissed off... it seemed like they were targetting audience with a concerning degrading and brat kinks (cuz who tf can actually enjoy this bs). But later on i kinda realised its not a general story telling like other manhwas. Its like we are experiencing the things he goes through with him but not AS him. Hope that makes sense. A proof of that is that he is still such a mysterious character (his feelings and thoughts and stuff) even tho we know everything he went through. My personal experience was that i started just skipping those scenes but i became so detached from uke. Idk how to explain it but obviously r*** is just a word at the end of the day and imagining the extremity is not something that is up to us. Anyway i may just be reading too much into this as a way too cope but i rly think theyre necessary to not just view uke as just this ..pityfull main charcter but rather be as disgusted as u r and see how gracefully he gets out of this hell.
