You know what terrifies me? Is if this brainwashing is similar to this bl novel that I read a while back (by that I mean the after effects of the brainwashing). So this novel, one of the antagonist (aka the green tea chick) has access to this system. How it works is if you touch someone they get in this trance like state and they start to like you. The more you touch the target the more the target falls in love with you. The most terrifying part about this system is that is that it actually damages the target's brain that's what I'm really concerned about. Minus the falling in love part the targets become hardcore followers. You know the way cult followers see their leader as a god? Yeah, that's what the system does. I just hope this bastards brainwashing ain't gonna be like that.

Right? Their bickering was like an old married couple it was so adorable. Usually I don't like tsundere characters but ml was so fun to read! It was always fun to see the mc tease him.
Exactly.. Besides, I most liked the fact that the ML wasn't a typical CEO who regards other people like bugs.. One of the best Chinese novel CEOs..
Same here. Usually, in Chinese novels CEO characters are often one dimensional and their characters often are just plain bland if I had to be honest. But the ml we got to see the whole character development along with his fears and struggles with coping his illness. When he took his first step to get treatment I was honestly happy for him.
is the novel worth the read?
In my opinion? I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but rather it was good read. Granted, there are some parts that I got mildly annoyed over but I did enjoy it. This book is more suited for people who those who enjoy fluff and light-hearted stories, slow romance, plot development, cute dynamics between MC & ML.

Yupp.. yupp.. Though the protagonist is too OP in the entertainment industry.. For that reason I found the middle part boring..
Still I'd recommend it even if it's only for their relationship..

Nope, cause from the start he's like that. It's Maize who change. Maise is the FL not some random character. In the original novel whatever that guy do or affairs etc Maize will always go back to him.
He knew that, that's why he remained sane believing Maize will forever be his.

I dont see him being pathetic.. He literaly cheated on her with any and everywoman who aproached him. He even accepted a hancerchif from a woman he knew was from a clan where acceting it = aceting to marry her. The same with him accepting the princesses advances.. and Fl's best friends love... he dated and i think slept with her..
When Fl broke up he was shocked but thought "she will come back like she always has, she will always forgive me". Its the same reason he came to her Wedding.. He thought his mere precence would cause her to dump her finace and run into his arms.. but she didnt so then he was like "your playing right?, you just doing this to get me back right?".. The only reason he let FL be at her wedding was becasue her fiance came and got her away form him.
After that he tried to find reasoning in as to why FL didnt come back to him.. and his concluson was "the husband must be a demon who brainwashed her" (this was before it was rewealed the husband was a demon to anyone other than the readers).
You also had the moment when the ex was like "she must be with him because she is brainwashed, but if she is with him out of her own will... IL KILL THEM BOTH!"..
And now we see him being despreate and trying to juistify his own actions to himself..
Like his friend said .. if Fl is married to the demon king, then that is the reason for the peace they have now. But the ex dosnt care about the world.. all he cares about is that his ego wont let him accep fl not forgiving him nor clinging to him like in the past.

I don't think he cares. He was fine as long as he was able to control maize. He wants her to be in his possession like something he can show off. It is his and no one is allowed to touch it. But since Maize was out of his sight his obsession started and became gradually worse. He lost that sense of control he once thought he would have forever. This drives him mad. Additionally, he has a savior complex, which makes his brain subconsciously not realize all this and instead gives him those excuses, so he doesn't lose his "self" while trying to gain his possession and the control he had over her back. He lacks sympathy and empathy, is self-centered, and overly obsessed with one person, which is why I think he is a sociopath. You really have no reason to pity him as he is not even trying to do things peacefully and pushes every person away that is trying to figure out the situation with a clear head.
but welp. in the end he is just a character who is just supposed to be the antagonist

But I can kinda understand why it took her seven lives to realize that no matter what she does...Her family never loved her. She was extremely naive and stubborn (she probably knows deep inside they never loved her but her heart couldn't accept it) perhaps despite the numerous signs. Time and time again she wanted to keep holding on to that belief that maybe just maybe her family will love her if she just does "A" or "B" for them. But as she keeps going through the repeated cycle of this do-over in her last life it becomes more and more harder to hold on to that belief. When Ricardo said that I guess she woke up. My theory is that through these seven lives she deluded herself into thinking "they will love me but I just need to do this for them"

She probably could've acted like that from the beginning. But she desperately desired her blood-related family to love her. Understandably, she took this long. It can be hard to notice you're being mistreated by those you love. She had given them chances and they should never ask for more.
People should not be giving her a hard time, she is a victim and the constant repeats and all the trama, combined with a desire to be loved probably made her gaslight herself.
E.g. "there is not way they are horrible enough not to love me", "they had their reasons"

I study psychology, i can see both irrational thinking (cognitive approach) and the behaviourist approach being relevant here (also, positive to raise her self esteem.)
With proper help, she could have been better within 1 lifetime. Doing this tough stuff on your own with no proper support circle, while constantly having those ideas reinforced makes stuff hard.

and in this chapter, it did say that she still believed that her secretary loved/cared for her, which implies to me that she did, otherwise (if she remembered later on, this would most likely not be mentioned cuz her past lives would be irrelevant)
