tbh i cant remember much about earlier in the story, but imo its really worth reading. very messed up (makes sense, its psychological) but still enjoyable and one of my fav bls atm.

I do have to say that Soohyun later in the story isn't really competitive and envious anymore, both him and Eunsung change quite a bit

Soohyun’s hatred turned into obsession without him realizing that he really cares about Eunsung but the flow of the story is good and amazing ^^

it's good for u that you never felt that way about academics but for some students (especially asian students with parents who have high expectations) you'll see everyone who're intelligent as your rival, you might even hate them when you can't get past them because your parents will always compare you to THEM even though you're doing your best and trying to impress your parents but it's no use because all they can see is your failures and they'll call u a disappointment blablabla etc. it might sound a bit overdramatic but believe me or not, this is really happening irl because I've been through it (actually until now XD)

I hate when i read mangas/manhwas/webtoons or watch dramas where the parents make their children feel like shitty over achievements and compare them to others. I grew up with parents who loved to compare, i always swore i'd never put my kids through that. So i'm aware it happens in real life too

It was never about her getting out of a bad marriage, its about changing the past so she, the ML and secretary-ssi don't die. Yeah but she married the new guy who had his own evil sibling and family problems LOL! So their problem intertwined

Yeah but then the whole thing about the Mother wasn't really dead, something about paintings from some long lost uncle or grandfather? The guy's parents were all so killed by the same woman but I'm not sure why but I'm pretty sure it's about some obscure money problem, also the girls real father but then her real father is a crook but he just wants a picture of her? And I'm trying to figure out, so she's pregnant even though we never saw them have any kind of relations but then they say she's probably pregnant with the other dude that used to be her husband from the past life, even though I've not seen them hook up. Because I thought he just liked her and he did it because he was such a simp and wanted one day to hook up with her but didn't they did? I didn't even know they had physical relations I thought she was just a cock tease. So yeah I'm just confused where all this is coming from and from where because if you don't show the Smashing scene, and I know it's tasteful not to but still you know there's still implications, then I don't know who's getting smashed and I don't know why a lady within catch another woman's house on fire and then adopt the baby of the mother she supposedly killed?

Okay, let's start slow. I think you've got some of the character mixed up. The FL, Han Yi Joo, was seperated from her mother after the fire. Her mum was told she had died in the fire (can't explain why, not too sure). She ended up in an orphanage and was later adopted by her Biological dad and this first wife(adoptive mother). My understanding of events is that, Han Yu-Ra(evil stepsister)'s mum Lee Jong-Hye, worked in that house as either a maid or housekeeper, and is a black widow (marries and kill for benefits). Clearly the Biological Dad, Han Ji-won, is trash, because he was having affairs that produced children. His father, FL's grandad, didn't approve of the FL's mother and so she decided to raise the child herself. Buy Jong-Hye (evil stepmum), wanted the Han Ji-won for herself, knowing that he will want FL's mum back if he new of the child, decided to kill her first. Didn't work out as planned, because the dad ended up marrying FL's adoptive mother (probably set up by his dad). I do think they were able to have kids, so years later, they adopted FL, Yi Joo. Yi Joo's life was great, her adoptive mother was loving etc. But the housekeeper (Jong-Hye), posioned the Mum and she died. Afterward, she brought Yu-Ra home and claimed that she was Han Ji-Won's child with faked documents proving DNA and fake documents saying Yi Joo was not his bio daughter. I think she either slept with the dad around the time that the FL was born or tricked him into thinking they slept together, and that Yu-Ra was the product of the affair. FL's dad was forced/ or chosed to marry her because of that.

Now the evil step mother's story: Lee Jong-Hye, was together with Yu-Ra's biological dad but left him probably because he's unsuccessful and broke. She then got with Secretary oppa, Yoo Se-Hyuk's Dad, becuase he had money, was a an artist and had money. She probably married him and poisoned him also for the money and deed to his life's work and gallery. Which is how Se-Hyuk ended up in the orphanage with the FL Yi Joo. Her next target was Han Ji-Won who was still married to the adoptive mother at the time. Her plan was to kill the grandfather, Han Ji-Won and FL, so she can inherit the company via marriage and "blood" through Yu-Ra. But she failed to kill Yi Joo, as she survived the posioning.

Yu-Ra (evil step sister), is pregnant. It's implied that she's had a sexually relationship or one night stand with ML's step brother, probably when she seduced him. But when her mum asked her if she knows who the father is, it means that she's been sleeping around just like her mother did. I think the baby might be Yi Joo ex-fiancee, as who she was also seducing to marry Yi Joo. Now she's also faking, that it's ML's brothers baby because she need to secure a future for herself. She's basically just repeating her mother's mistakes ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ I get why you're confused, as they didn't show this but it's just implied. Sex is not really shown unless it's that kind of webtoon, even in Kdramas it's mostly implied. Although nowadays some are really explicit.

I don't know if that explains it well, but i'm sure the Kdrama will be clearer/easier to understand (〜￣△￣)〜 but yeah, this is how i understood the story so far.

It's just that wow, this plot is so convoluted. I mean, I wonder how they're going to pull this off when they make it into a live-action kdrama

I think you might be thinking of "marry my husband" she was terminally ill and stuck in a loveless marriage w shitty in-laws and an even shittier husband. here her lifelong "best friend" and husband were having an affair for years and killed her (albeit on accident) when she finally found out. then she went back in time w the knowledge of her past life.

I think the novel does it better because it provides much more context but he has a lot of abandonment issues and also guilt being the only survivor out of his entire family, on top of meeting only shitty alphas and having a shitty uncle that only wants something from him and constantly pimping him out, it makes more sense why he wouldn't believe a dominant alpha be into him. Not to mention, his friend who always put him down can kind of give you an idea of his self esteem.

Yeah.. I've read the spoiler too.. personally, i mean.. with lack of social skills.. it wasn't easy to perceive what people think of you.

Anyone mentioning the novel makes me wonder if we read the same thing lol. I know the translation isn’t the best, but he’s clueless in the novel too! So much to the point that it’s something even the brother picks up on.

I don't take it as clueless. I just think hebhas super low self esteem and then pair with an alpha that isn't super communicative due to his own issues where he has to seek help from a therapist on how to show his emotions more...It makes sense to me. We can interpret things differently.

I disagree the ML did not make it obvious at all he was talking about the mc. the ml knows the trauma the mc has been through and how he doubts himself so much and believes no one would date him yet he kept making allogries about a "special someone" NO DUH. all his life he's been told that he's been worthless and no matter how many people you fall in love with they're all gonna leave him for someone better and that's been proven to be true time and time again by his past lovers. The ml did very little to confront this and only when he finally says "ITS YOU" does the mc finally understand that his love was requited because you cant say things in a round about way to someone with a personality like that and expect them to read between the lines and assume, maybe if everyone hes ever met wasnt such a hypocrit hed be able to get the allogories but thats not his character. I'm tried of you guys always blaming the mc, you have to remember we as readers know EVERYTHING characters don't. we heard the full conversation but the mc only heard part of it, we know the "fox" is the mc but the mc believes its actually a fox. as someone in AP literature the lack of perspective is so frustrating

Thank you, I have yet to see some else bring up the ml not being obvious enough. I personally think that was the biggest contributor to the confusion. Like the whole fox thing. The mc clearly mentions how he legit thinks it's a real fox and the ml just plays along with it rather than say no it's you. The whole pregnancy happened cause the ml took the mc drunken talk ( that he can't even remember) to heart and stopped using birth control without telling the mc the idea of having a family ( the mc was still using birth control after all since he was never given the memo). Heck the ml own body guards bring up how the ml is like that to all his fuck buddies and he shouldn't expect anything. The ml never defined the relationship and others kept pushing the mc down so I am not surprised his misunderstood it all. ....to the ml credit though, I like how the miscarriage makes him more vocal and expressive. It really made him realize that he needed to communicate more with the mc. Bit yeah I hate how people make the mc out to be an idiot. Cause he is not, a ml who doesn't define anything, communicate, or clear up anything plus all the shity people by him, plus his trauma really messed him up.

Oh an one more thing... the night the mc was going to the hotel with that uncle's friend should have been a clue to ml. Heck the ml thought they were already dating yet here is his partner going on a sex date with another guy. He should have tried to define and explain things there but he let the misconceptions snow ball the entire time.

oh thank goodness i thought i was alone in thinking this. The ML pissed me off so much with the constant allusions and not directly asking Seoyu to date or even get married. Especially considering the way in which they got together. It was purely physical at first so how was Seoyu supposed to know the situation changed when the ML caught feelings???

You don't develop cluelessnees, its just how people are. His cluelessness unfortunately partnered up with his insecuritie. I've yet to meet someone this clueless in life and i know/known a few people who who were left unable to fully trust peoples feelings towards them because of trauma or bad relationship. But none have been THIS clueless. Second part of my comment explains why i felt disdain towards it, clearly its a plot device (used in many korean dilms/series/webtoons), exaggerated misunderstanding/miscommunication/cluelessness.
