BIG agree. It pretty much ruined the story, like so many difference, all it might as well share is are the character names, setting and such.

There's a long ass exposition/world building arc. It begins when MC and the other gamers get sucked into a the portal(which we saw in chapter 1) then MC and a group of korean players group up to basically stay alive, some have no kingdoms, some have kingdoms they're running from, some are newbies who never touched the game. The monkey guy takes charge cus he has game experience and he becomes defacto leader and takes in the group as residents. MC and the glasses dude, kiddo and shark dude opts out and signs in as some sort of temporary residents where they basically can leave the kingdom with the permission of the king.
Stuff happened, i'm currently rereading the novel so memory is fresh for the first half of volume 1.
-monkey village is established, they have a 1 week grace period where their kingdom is invisible from other kingdoms to prevent invasions and such. Gives them time to basically have growth and the capability to defend their kingdom once the "shields" are up
-the players+vassals of the kingdom are divided into groups for daily tasks, there's food procurement group, there's a fishing group, there's a material procurement group then the tower climbers(they have sub groups for tower climbers. 1st group go in day 1, 2nd group goes on day 2. Etc)
-Shark dude was placed in fishing group, glasses dude was placed in tower climber group 2 and MC+Kiddo were both placed in tower climber 3.
-Shark dude reveals his stats are STACKED. Very OP, MC tells him to hide his stats and tell others it's average and to hide his skills too to. Same for MC, he never awakens/reveals his race and stats to anyone during the village arc cus Celestial are looked down upon/have poor reputation. He might end up ostracised/bullied essentially.
-it's established that the tower is a highly dangerous place, group 1 almost got a party wipe, only 1 survivor came back with 1 mana stone to show for it. Morale is very low and everyone sees death nearing them metaphorically speaking.
-shows the value of mana stone, it helps the kingdom to basically "level up", monkey king chose to develop a training center and i believe skill assesment...?? Idk how to describe it. Morale is back up and Group 2 goes ham on the training.
-Group 2 comes back alive, happy but worse for wear, alot of injuries. Glasses dude and MC have a heart to heart at night when MC went to the skill assesment center to try and see if he gets any skills without awakening(failure).
-Glasses dude gives advice that if you don't awaken, you'll basically die. MC asked if Glasses dude awakened(forgot to mention that Glasses dude also refused to awaken like MC as we in the recent chapters in webtoon, he has fears his duke will basically take over his mind). Glasses dude yes, he awakened in the tower last minute while facing imminent death.
-MC thanks him for the headsup, mans up and finally awakens in front glasses dude(they have this kind of sarcastic frenemy relationship going on, it's funny). Glasses dude is is not amused. They echanged jabs at each other and part ways.
-MC then hides his wings and heads to the where the smithy is. Tries to make a bow and arriw, fails and he meets a side character there(MY FUCKING KEMONOMIMI BEEFY BOI GOT DELETED FROM THE WEBNOVEL, ONE OF MY BEEF WITH THE ARTIST) says they're a blacksmith. MC asks if they can make a bow and arrow, he said yes and makes MC a c grade(apparently pretty good quality?) Then he asks him again if he could make a crossbow. He does so.
-they part ways and MC i believe heads to the skills assesment to get all his celestial skills(aaalll support skills and 1 attack skill which js basically just light elemental beam thing). Then he goes to the training centre to train his bow and arrow skills(celestials are apparently great at bow and arrow. Like imagine stereotypical elves skills basically)
I think you get it????? There's more left in this arc but as you can see, they left out a FUCK TON of plot. I would continue typing but my toilet seat is kinda making my legs sleep.
