The uke composes the songs for the roommate. Apparently they have known each other since they were kids. They aren't romantically involved but the roommate is so controlling that the uke hasn't had any relationship outside of just being friends. It's a very toxic relationship that hasn't escalated to physical abuse, but has a lot of emotional abuse. The roommate is the only person in the uke's close circle.
