I think that was bcs he was the one who got the job to killed geto and make report that he already killed him. And then suddenly geto appeared, alive. So, the higher ups making assumption that gojo is traitor.
As for the principal, bcs he was the one responsible for gojo and geto on their highschool days, so he is accused of being the one making geto and gojo like that.
As itadori, the other higher ups was never agreed to let yuji alive, they want to kill him from the start. But the principal and gojo didn't let them. So now that both of them gone, they go with their initial plan.
