the princess is obviously revived as someone else, i think this is around 2 years after her death. to defend our scum ML a little bit, he actually loves her, it's just another story loaded with misunderstandings. he didn't marry her for power, but he actually fought during the war in exchange for her hand in marriage, but our ML is a little,,, socially inept you see. he doesn't really understand the social norms to an extent and he didn't have a good background as a noble, his mother was a maid raped by his noble father, so he just assumes that the FL didn't want to marry a dirty person like him. i won't be saying that the fact that he loves her justifies him raping her because it doesn't alright. and that "mistress" is actually not one is ALLEGEDLY his relative (they were unsure but they said half sister). so the reason why he sent her away to the villa was actually from her doctor's orders and not because of some side bitch !! he was actually quite devastated and heartbroken when he found out that she died and even asked the king to strip him of his title and properties, but he was a competent person so he wasn't permitted to do so. some time after her death, he finds her gift and realizes that she must have overheard his conversation with his friend about the perks of marrying a royal and attempts to kill himself but was ultimately stopped by charlotte (the "mistress"). so he had a small garden built where they placed a memorial for the FL and he kneels there (once a week i think) to talk to her even until after the FL resurfaced as juliet.

This situation is what we call being "too late" he should've made an effort (I'm not saying that he's all that bad, it's understandable knowing his past). I mean if you really love someone, you would do anything to at least fix the misunderstanding. If he could treat his mistress/probs half sister like that, then he could've made an effort to treat his wife (whom he possibly loved) like that as well.

and one of yall asked if he was still the ML even after 12 years, yes he is definitely the ML. i can't read japanese very well so i'm also confused as to exactly what her age was, but she is definitely old enough to be a tutor to her own daughter, i'd say the range for her age is most definitely around late 10's to mid 20's
