i had a hunch when i first started this mahhwa, but i'm guessing that the ML actually likes the MC even from the 1st life but didn't show it for whatever reason. but she dies, so he uses magic to kill her and rewind time back to when they got married. so now he does his best to show his wife his affections, except she remembered everything from her 1st life, so things don't go as smoothly. but man, you gotta admit, he's a really good ML this time around if you really think about it. he's very well aware of his wife's circumstances and takes actions accordingly without even having to ask.
